Sportal Sweden is acquired


Sponsio Limited, the Nordic marketing and PR partner for Ladbrokes world wide betting today announces the acquisition of Sportal AB. The purchase of Sportal is part of Ladbrokes’ Nordic strategy to get closer to Swedish sports as well as to the media channels that provide sports content. is Sweden’s largest independent sports site and was part of the pan-European network of eight Sportal sites. Sportal was the main sponsor of Euro2000 and held the prestigious assignment to develop and operate the official Euro2000 site ( The Euro2000 site had 16 million unique visitors with 129 million page impressions.

– We are extremely happy to get access to such a strong and focused brand in Sweden and we will change to increase its popularity and make it profitable, says Douglas Roos, responsible for Ladbrokes in the Nordic countries.

– These changes will make the sportal site a necessary source for sports interested people.

Ladbrokes will during November apply with the Swedish government for a betting license to operate in Sweden.
